Muting Incident Notifications
You can mute notifications for sources, validators, and incident groups for different periods of time to silence repeated incident notifications and reduce alert fatigue. You will not receive notifications for these incidents until the mute duration ends or you click Unmute.
You can mute notifications at the source, validator, or incident group levels. Incidents will still be created, but external notifications will not be sent for the duration of the muting period:
- Source–Muting a source will mute all validators created under that source, as well as notifications for any source errors, schema changes, or segment limits associated with that source.
- Validator–Muting a validator will mute all the segments seen by that validator.
- Incident group–Muting an incident group will prevent it from generating notifications for a specific segment.
The muting option is available as:
- A menu on the Source Details, Validator Details, and Incident Group Details pages. Clicking the Mute menu opens the list of muting durations, and you will see options in hours, days, and weeks.
- A list item in the ⠇menu for sources, validators, and incident groups on their respective pages and tabs.
If the source, validator, or incident group is already muted, the Unmute option will be available.
Hovering over the Mute menu displays a tooltip describing the status, such as “Muted until 12:30”.
