# About Validio Developer Tools

> The Validio developer tools include the GraphQL API, Python SDK, CLI, and Validio Code (IaC) for automating and managing data quality without the web interface.

You can use the Validio developer tools to automate functionality or interact with the Validio platform without using the web interface. Data providers who typically work with command-line interfaces and data consumers who use the web interface can then collaborate on the same resources.

| Tool | Use it to |
| :- | :- |
| **[Validio API](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-api.md)** | Interact with the Validio platform through [GraphQL](https://graphql.org/), which exposes the methods available in the web interface, or export data as CSV through the CSV Export API. |
| **[Validio SDK](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-sdk.md)** | Call the Validio API from Python through a GraphQL client. |
| **[Validio CLI](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-cli.md)** | Interact with the platform from the command line. The CLI is a wrapper around the SDK with some added functionality. |
| **[Validio Code (IaC)](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-code.md)** | Declare your resources as Python and manage them as Infrastructure-as-Code, through the CLI. |

Installing the CLI also installs the SDK. To install them and create your first API key, see [Getting started](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/getting-started.md).

## Validio API

The Validio API is built using GraphQL and enables interaction with the Validio platform through any GraphQL client, instead of the web interface. Alongside it, the read-only CSV Export API returns Validio data as CSV for reporting and BI tools.

For more information, see [About Validio API](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-api.md).

## Validio SDK

The Validio Software Development Kit (SDK) provides functionality to interact with the Validio API through a GraphQL client. The SDK is written in Python, and all its public functions are documented according to [pydoc](https://docs.python.org/3/library/pydoc.html) using [Sphinx](https://www.sphinx-doc.org/en/master/).

For more information, see [Validio SDK](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-sdk.md).

## Validio CLI

You can use the Validio Command-Line Interface (CLI) to interact with the Validio platform through the SDK and API. The CLI is a wrapper around the Validio SDK that includes some added functionality.

For more information and examples, see [Validio CLI](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-cli.md).

## Validio Code (IaC)

Validio Code provides Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), which uses Python to provide the full expressive power of an imperative programming language.

For more information and examples, see [Validio Code (IaC)](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-code.md).

You can also find practical code examples in [Validator recipes](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/docs/validators/validators-configuration/validator-recipes.md) and the [Validio SDK recipes](https://docs.validio.io/v10.3/developer/validio-sdk/sdk-recipes.md).
